Gun Gauntlet MK II by SteamViking Gun Gauntlet MK II by SteamViking
Version 2 of the gun bracer! This version fires further, reloads and primes faster, looks better, and fits better than the previous version. The only thing I dont care for is the orange barrels, but the larp Im using this at requires a good chunk of the barrel be left orange due to local laws or some such. I will most likely paint over the orange bits once I find out just how much of it legally needs to be orange. Overall I am very happy with how it came out.

Made from two Nerf Nitefinders, veg tanned leather, brass, and a bit of copper tubing.

Actually DarthRonius, you are incorrect. Airsoft guns have ALWAYS been sold in America with an orange tip. Because the law says they MUST have an orange tip, and AIRSOFT juns have never been listed as lethal, BB guns (that fire metal BBs) however are listed as lethal. NERF only does bright colors still because they always have, not because they are forced to. NERF could sell them with just an orange tip, and it would be legal.

That being said, Steam Viking, do not need orange tips by law, just by what your LARP rules say you do.

I'd love to see you strip down the mechanisms from the shooters and make a shell for it that is also period looking... you could even try brass electro plaiting... now that would be awesome ;)

Ive actually been toying around with that idea for some time. It would definitely be an interesting project.

I have seen and fired this in person.
It is good.
Needs a belt feed and CO2 canisters. :P

Wow, the difference between the initial concept and the finished product is awesome. Knowing you the wrist functions and doesn't inhibit your movement too much. How many shots can you fire in one loading? 2?

Glad you like it. The wrist movement is good, and it can fire 2 darts at once.

Technically the law is that you have to be able to see orange from all sides and the front. I would say leave 1/2" unpainted on the sides, and paint the rest

It would be much cooler without the Nerf parts. Could you make something similar to the Nerf parts from copper tubing? Just a thought.

You could paint the orange parts of the nerf stuff with copper paint then that would make it look
better too.

I probably will once I find out how much of the barrels have to be left orange according to state and local laws where the game is held.

Actually, there is a a federal law about that sort of thing. A toy gun that doesn't fire can get away with just the orange ring. A nerf-type gun (that fires) actually is required to keep that orange barrel by federal law. Hence why bb and airsoft guns aren't allowed to be sold in bright colors or with any orange tips, because they're considered a potentially leathal weapon or some such.

I have seen toy guys with orange only on the very tip of the barrel.
I doubt that anyone will make a fuss if you paint the whole barrel.

But it does not look like a gun at all no mistaking it for one.

Just callin' it like I know it. Better to err on the side of caution then to get in potentially serious trouble.
