Steamviking Arm by SteamViking Steamviking Arm by SteamViking
I like steampunk and anything to do with vikings, so when a friend asked me to make a steampunk gauntlet for his viking themed barbarian character at a steampunk LARP I was all over it.

The raven symbol and runes are etched into the brass, which was then aged in ammonia and polished to make the etchings stand out.

Steampunk viking theme is a splendid hybrid, rich in possibilities for craft. But it should be approached more deeply than Northland symbols on viking items, I think.

For example, imagine a land of harsh winter, where a brutal king is building steampowered forces for a campain across the world. What should items from such a world be?
Most likely, cold protection, like steam-heated and fur padded armor.
Axes with steam-powered strengtheners, snow-walking boots with hydraulic supports, for tireless marches. Battle-horns with screams of the most ferocious berserks written jn phonograph devices, to drive fear into enemies.
Horned helms with tesla-coil protection from arrows, runic fiture-foretellers for the wisemen.
Finally, dragon-prow zeppelins, made of most terrible nortern beasts' hides, with lots of blades, harpoon cannons and barbed chains for hovering attack.

Isn't it a picture worth embodying in leather and metal? :)

Im actually planning to play a larp character at a game about a year from now that focuses on the steampunk viking concept. I feel like it is one of the aspects of the genre that nobody thinks to cover.

I thought the same about two years ago, soon the third is above me and hopefully all my hired artists will be finished with my stuff by then and it will be gathered and photoshooted for the pleasure of everyone.
